Weddings, Parties & Functions Reception Area, Chapel & Garden


This area has a capacity of more or less 150 guests seated at tables, allowing space for plated meals.  If buffet meals are served this area can accommodate up to 200 guests seated at tables. There is enough space for a dance floor if 160 people are seated.

Important information with regard to the hiring of the reception area:

Tables, chairs and all crockery are included in the hiring of the reception area.

The reception area will be clean when you arrive and we expect to receive it back in the same clean condition.

The reception area can be occupied on the Friday if no other event is scheduled at the Lodge.

The reception area must be cleaned on the Sunday. It this is not possible arrangement need to be made in advance for the Monday.

A cash bar is available.

Sparkling wines, champagne and sherry need to be bought at Oryx.

We charge a corkage fee of R20 per bottle on any alcohol (e.g. wine) that is brought in.

As an alternative a list of wines that can be bought through Oryx is available


Weddings, Parties and Conferencing.

Conferencing area
All tables and chairs are included in the amount for hiring the conferencing area. Tablecloths (R15 each) and chair covers (R 8) are available at Oryx Lodge at an additional cost.

Sound/Projector etc.
Oryx Lodge offers the use of a basic sound system with a microphone that is suitable for speeches.

We also have a projector and screen for powerpoint presentations.

A generator is available to ensure that everything continues as planned in case of a power failure.

Personalised stationary as well as clothing can be arranged upon request.

Game viewing/Bird watching

Guest can enjoy the magnificent wildlife whilst at functions, as a relaxed part of conferencing, as a fun guided tour or for photographic opportunities.

Tours can be arranged at the reception upon arrival at Oryx Lodge.

The catering at the Lodge is done by Johan Badenhorst from the Johnnique restaurant in Kroonstad.

Personalised bottled water can be arranged upon request.

Please note the menus and prising thereoff is on request only.


The décor and setting of tables are the clients’ own responsibility.

Tables and chairs are, however, included in the amount paid for the hiring of the reception area. Round/rectangular shaped steel tables that can seat up to 8 people are available. The chairs are black plastic chairs.

Both the table cloths and chair covers are available in white only.


Please Note: All payments, including that of the caterer, must be done into Oryx Lodge’s account. Banking details will be supplied with invoice.
